Udd Jayega Hans Akela

(Udd Jayega Hans Akela) - Sant Kabir

Recently I heard a song from Hawaizada ( Ayushmaan Khuran & Mithoon Chakrobarty staring Hindi Movie) Udd Jayega Hans Akela and found that it is inspired by this spiritual poem of Sant Kabir. In this verse he has compared Swan to human soul which will fly to its ultimate destination one day leaving all the worldly pleasure. He says that one has no control over this flight by comparing it to the non-directional flight of a falling leaf in the wind. To understand this poem more you can visit : Message of Udd Jayega Hans Akela

Ud Jayega Huns Akela, Jug Darshan Ka Mela,
Jaise Paat Gire Taruvar Se, Milna Bahut Duhela
Naa Jane Kidhar Girega, Lageya Pawan Ka Rela
Jub Howe Umur Puri, Jab Chute Ga Hukum Huzuri
Jum Ke Doot Bade Mazboot, Jum Se Pada Jhamela
Das Kabir Har Ke Gun Gawe, Wah Har Ko Paran Pawe
Guru Ki Karni Guru Jayega, Chele Ki Karni Chela.

The Swan will fly alone, the world is mere a spectacle known,
As the leaves fall from tree, Is difficult to find with strain ,
Who knows where it will fall, with wind when its blown,
When life will be complete, then following orders will be over,
Yama's* messengers are very strong, entangled in Yama's zone,
Servant Kabir sings praises of God, he finds the god soon,
Master will get his doings, disciple's doings will be accordingly shown.

*Yama is Yamaraj a Hindu god who took away souls.

Na Muhn Chupa Ke Jiye Hum Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye

(Na Muhn Chupa Ki Jiye Hum Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye) -  I am sharing here a ' Qita ' written by Sahir Ludhianvi which is recently used in Hindi movie 'Sanju '. A song inspired from it also penned by Sahir for the film ' Humraaz' (1967 ) staring Sunil Dutt in the lead role. Literal meaning of Qata is ‘separated’. Qata stands for a series of couplets in a ghazal having continuity of thought. A ghazal having one or more Qatas is called Qata-Band ghazal . Qatas also have independent existence comprising at least four lines. In a Qata , the second and fourth lines follow the same rhyming scheme. (Qita meaning from Rekhta ). Here I have tried to translate it. Na Muhn Chupa Ke Jiye Hum Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye, Sitamgaron Ki Nazar Se Nazar M

Nami Danam Che Manzil Bood

Nami Danam Che Manzil Bood - Amir Khusro Dhoom - 3's famous track 'Kamli' featuring Katrina Kaif uses a Persian word 'Nami Danam' which means " I don't know" . That word was used by famous Sufi Poet Amir Khusro in this poem also. I am translating it into English as well as easy to understand Urdu (In Devnagri script).

Aagah Apni Maut Se Koi Bashar Nahin

( Aagah Apni Maut Se Koi Bashar Nahin) - No One Is Aware Of Their Own Death - Hairat Allahabadi My brother often quote the first sher of this ghazal from a long time. One day I found that it was part of a ghazal written by Hairat Allahabadi so I decided to translate it. In this ghazal the poet is showing his dare devilry by raising points like he don't fear death, he not fearful of others and things like that. He is showing his power to love without any fear. I hope you will like this translation. Aagah Apni Maut Se Koi Bashar Nahin, Saman Sau Baras Ka Pal Ki Khabar Nahin. No one is aware of their own death, things are hundred years old, no news of the moment's strength. Aa Jaen Rob-ae-Ghair Mein Hum Wo Bashar Nahin, Kuch Aap Ki Tarah Hamein Logon Ka Dar Nahin.
