सूनापन! (Sunapan) - Lonliness - Mahadevi Verma 27th April is Birth Anniversary of Mahadevi Verma. She perfectly portrays the emotions of love, longing,betrayal, void , etc in her Hindi poems. I who usually translate male poet works today on her birth anniversary decided to translate one of her poem. I have translated her ' Jo Tum Aa Jate Ek Baar ' which I have read during my school days. I hope this 'Kavita ' and its translation will be liked by all of you.  मिल जाता काले अंजन में सन्ध्या की आँखों का राग, जब तारे फैला फैलाकर सूने में गिनता आकाश।  Mil Jata Kale Anjan Mein, Sandhya Ki Aankho Ka Rag, Jab Tare Faila Failakar, Sune Mein Ginta Aakash. सिपाही (Soldier) क्यों भूल जाते हैं उन्हें हम जो सरहदों पर लड़ते हैं? वो भी तो इंसान है,वो ही क्यों मरा करते हैं? Why we forget those fighting on the borders? They too are human,why only they were killed? छोड़ अपना घर ,ज़मीं, ना लाएं आँखों में नमी, हस्ते-हस्ते वो जवान, देश पर दे देते हैं जान, Leave their home,their land, For nation they stand, With smile a plenty, Give their life for country, क्यों दो आंसू भी उनपर ना बहते हैं? वो भी तो इंसान है,वो ही क्यों मरा करते हैं? Why for them no tears are spilled? They too are human,why only they were killed? बर्फ हो या हो मरुस्थल, डटे रहते हैं वो हर पल, वो मुश्किलों से झुजते होते हैं, तब हम चैन से सोते हैं, Whether it's glaciers or deserts, They keep standing on outskirts, When they face trouble bravely, Then we sleep peacefully, क्यों उनके लिए थोड़ा भी समय नहीं दे पाते हैं? वो भी तो इंसान है,वो ही क्यों मरा करते हैं?
