Sab Gandhi Ban Jate Hain

Image
सब गाँधी बन जाते हैं। (Sab Gandhi Ban Jate Hain)  In an era where quiet dignity is often mistaken for weakness and non-violence for cowardice, the timeless ideals of Mahatma Gandhi shine with even greater urgency. 2nd October i.e Gandhi Jayanti is not merely a day of remembering him, but to remember his ideals of truth and non-violence which continues to inspire the modern generation to stand against the mighty and the powerful.Whenever people choose principles over compromise and raise their voice against oppression without hatred, the spirit of Gandhi lives on, guiding us toward a more just and compassionate world. The below poem is reminding his value in today's world.

Zanjeerein - Hafeez Merthi

Image
Zanjeerein (ज़ंजीरें) - Chains - Hafeez Merthi I came across this beautiful and powerful Ghazal by Hafeez Merthi during the recent Paper Leak Protest at Jantar Mantar ,Delhi. The police brutality against students is shameful, and those in power must reconsider how they treat peaceful protesters. I struggle to understand why this government refuses to engage in open dialogue. We saw this same pattern have during the CAA-NRC protests ,the Farmers' protest , the  Women Wrestlers protest and now the Students' protest.  Instead of addressing the core issues , Modi led BJP government often resort to denial and brand protesters as terrorist and foreign agents backed by Pakistan , USA,China,Khalistani separatist,  Soros ,etc. This Ghazal of Hafeez Merthi centered on theme of revolution and Chains i.e ' Zanjeerein ' serves as a poignant tool to describe the current protest against the resignation of education minister Dharmender Pradhan and the police brutality the...

Hum Dekhenge

Image
हम देखेंगे ! (Hum Dekhenge!) - We Will See! - Faiz Ahmad Faiz Hum Dekhenge or we will see is a revolutionary song of Faiz Ahmad Faiz which he wrote against the injustices of then Pakistan ruler Zia Ul Haq . Iqbal Bano a prominent Pakistani singer sang this song wearing a black saree in front of gathering of 50,000 people in Lahore stadium to oppose Zia's saree ban. Since then it has become the song for the revolutionaries. It's a promise as well as a call to the oppressor that we will witness the fall of this rule of oppression. This song is also used in end credits of Hindi film Haidar to represent the struggle of Kashmiri people. I have tried to translate it for better understanding.  हम देखेंगे, लाज़िम है के हम भी देखेंगे, वो दिन के जिसका वादा है, जो लौह-ए-अज़ल में लिखा है, हम देखेंगे। Hum Dekhenge, Lazim Hai Ke Hum Bhi Dekhenge, Wo Din Ke Jiska Wada Hai, Jo Lauh-e-Azal Mein Likha Hai, Hum Dekhenge. We Will See, It's certain that we ...
