Amir Khusro is a great Sufi poet and disciple of Nizammuddin Auliya. Mostly his creations are in devotion of his Nizam (master) and they are portrayed in a way a beloved is talking about her lover. That worldly love known to people is used as metaphors by him to tell his heavenly love to God or to his master. I have shared here one of his famous 'Ghazal' sung as qawwali by many Indian and Pakistani Singers. In this he said that by just a glance a heavenly look his master has taken away all from him. He said that his identity is dissolved in Him with that look; they both have become one. 




छाप तिलक सब छीनी रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके,
प्रेम भटी का मदवा पिलाइके,
मतवारी कर लीन्ही रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके,
गोरी गोरी बईयाँ, हरी हरी चूड़ियाँ,
बईयाँ पकड़ धर लीन्ही रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके,
बल बल जाऊं मैं तोरे रंग रजवा,
अपनी सी रंग दीन्ही रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके,
खुसरो निज़ाम के बल बल जाए,
मोहे सुहागन कीन्ही रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके,
छाप तिलक सब छीनी रे मोसे नैना मिलाइके।

Prem Bhati Ka Madwa Pilaike,
Matwari Kar Linhi Re Mose Naina Milaike,
Gori-Gori Baiyan, Hari-Hari Chidiyan,
Bainyan Pakad Dhar Linhi Re Mose Naina Milaike
Bal Bal Jaun Mein Tore Rang Rajwa,
Apni Si Rang Dinhi Re Mose Naina Milaike,
Khusro Nizam Ke Bal Bal Jaye,
Mohe Sugan Kinhi Re Mose Naina Milaike,
Chaap Tilak Sab Chini Re Mose Naina Milaike.

You've taken away my looks, my identity, by just a glance.
You've said the unknown, by just a glance.
By making me drink the wine from the love of devotion
You've intoxicated me by just a glance;
My fair, delicate wrists with green bangles in them,
Have been taken off by you with just a glance.
I give my life to you, Oh my cloth-dyer,
You've dyed me like yourself, by just a glance.
I give my whole life to you Oh, Nizam,
You've made me your bride, by just a glance.
You've said the wonder, by just a glance.

Na Muhn Chupa Ke Jiye Hum Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye

न मुहँ छुपा के जीए हम न सर झुका के जीए। (Na Muhn Chupa Ki Jiye Hum Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye) -  I am sharing here a ' Qita ' written by Sahir Ludhianvi which is recently used in Hindi movie 'Sanju '. A song inspired from it also penned by Sahir for the film ' Humraaz' (1967 ) staring Sunil Dutt in the lead role. Literal meaning of Qata is ‘separated’. Qata stands for a series of couplets in a ghazal having continuity of thought. A ghazal having one or more Qatas is called Qata-Band ghazal . Qatas also have independent existence comprising at least four lines. In a Qata , the second and fourth lines follow the same rhyming scheme. (Qita meaning from Rekhta ). The Seven Stages Of Love(इश्क़ के सात मक़ाम) Arabic literature and sufi traditions describes seven stages of love and after the movie 'Dedh Ishqiya'  all of us also knew that these seven stages of love are दिलकशी (Attraction),उन्स (Attachment),मोहब्बत (Love),अक़ीदत (Trust/Reverence),इबादत (Worship),जूनून (Madness) and मौत (Death) .
