Tumhe Yaad Ho Ke Na Yaad Ho.

तुम्हे याद हो के न याद हो। (Tumhe Yaad Ho Ke Na Yaad Ho)  Whether You Remember It or not. - Momin Khan Momin 

Where there is love there is betrayal and separation. Here I have translated this Ghazal ' Tumhe Yaad Ho Ke Na Yaad Ho' which is about emotions of separation where a lover remembers every small thing of his beloved whether she remember them or not. Momin Khan Momin was a Mughal era Urdu poet and contemporary of Ghalib and Zauq. Ghalib once offered is complete Diwan ( collections of his Ghazals) for below mentioned sher ( couplet ) of Momin. 

तुम मेरे पास होते हो गोया,

जब कोई दूसरा नहीं होता।  

Tum mere paas hote goya,

Jab koi dusra nahin hota

When you are near (close to) me,

then no one else is.

Ghazal of Momin translated by me :  

वो जो हम में तुम में क़रार था, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो, 

वही यानी वादा निबाह का, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Woh jo hum mein tum mein karaar tha tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho,
Wahi yani wada nibah ka tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

That agreement we had between us, whether you remember it or not,
That same promise of togetherness, whether you remember it or not

वो नये गिले वो शिकायतें, वो मज़े-मज़े की हिकायतें,

वो हर एक बात पे रूठना, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Wo naye gile wo shikayatein, wo maze-maze ki hikayatein,
Woh har ek baat pe ruthna, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

Those new objections and complaints, those stories to entertain,
Getting angry without refrain, whether you remember it or not.

 कोई बात ऐसी अगर हुई जो तुम्हारे जी को बुरी लगी, 

तो बयाँ से पहले ही भूलना, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Koi baat aisi agar hue jo tumhare ji ko buri lagi,
To bayan se pehle hi bhulna, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

If something occured between us which offended your heart,
Forgetting before being told, whether you remember it or not. 

सुनो ज़िक्र है कई साल का, कोई वादा मुझ से था आप का,

वो निबाहने का तो ज़िक्र क्या, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Suno zikr hai kaye saal ka, koi wada mujhse tha aapka,
Wo nibhane ka to zikr kya, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

An incident of some years, about a promised you have made to me,
Conversation to fulfill that vow, whether you remembered it or not.

कभी हम में तुम में भी चाह थी, कभी हम से तुम से भी राह थी,

कभी हम भी तुम भी थे आश्ना, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो।  
Kabhi hum mein tum mein bhi chah thi, Kabhi hum se tum se bhi raah thi,
Kabhi hum bhi tum bhi the aashna, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

Once there was love among us, once there was a way among us,
Once we were acquainted to each other, whether you remember it or not.

हुए इत्तेफ़ाक़ से गर बहम, वो वफ़ा जताने को दम-ब-दम,

गिला-ए-मलामत-ए-अर्क़बा, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
 Hue ittefaq se gar baham, wo wafa jatane ko dam-ba-dam,
Gila-ae-malamat-ae-akribaa, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

If we came face to face coincidentally, always to prove loyalty,
my receiving of those abuses of everybody, whether you remember it or not. 

वो जो लुत्फ़ मुझ पे थे पेश्तर, वो करम के था मेरे हाल पर,

मुझे सब है याद ज़रा-ज़रा, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Wo jo lutf mujh pe the peshtar, wo karam ke tha mere hal par,
Mujhe sab hai yaad zara-zara, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

Those favors that you did bestow, the kindness that you once did show,
I can recall them a bit somehow, whether you remember it or not.

कभी बैठे सब में जो रू-ब-रू तो इशारतों ही से गुफ़्तगू ,

वो बयान शौक़ का बरमला, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Kabhi baithe sab mein jo ru-ba-ru tu isharaton se hi guftgu,
Wo bayan shauq ka barmala, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

If sitting together in gathering then talking only in gesturing,
that expression of love openly, whether you remember it or not.

कहा मैं ने बात वो कोठे की, मेरे दिल से साफ़ उतर गई,

तो कहा के जाने मेरी बाला, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Kaha mein ne baat wo kothe ki, mere dil se saaf utar gayee,
To kaha ke jaana meri bala, tumhe yaat ho ke na yaad ho.

I said that interaction on terrace was clearly skipped from my mind,

You said,'my foot' angrily, whether you remember it or not.

वो बिगड़ना वस्ल की रात का, वो न मानना किसी बात का, 

वो नहीं-नहीं की हर आन अदा, तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Woh bigadna vasl ki raat ka, wo na maanna kisi baat ka,
Wo nahin-nahin ki har aan ada, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

Getting angry on the night of union, not agreeing on anything spoken,
that style of disagreeing with dignity, whether you remember it or not. 

जिसे आप गिनते थे आशना, जिसे आप कहते थे बावफ़ा,

मैं वही हूँ "मोमिन"-ए-मुब्तला तुम्हें याद हो के न याद हो। 
Jise aap kehte the aashna, jise aap kehte the bewafa,
Mein wahi hun, "momin"-ae-mubtala tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho.

The one you once held close to you, the one you once deemed as true,
I am that same distressed "Momin", whether you remember it or not.
