मधुशाला (कुछ छंद ) (Madhushala) - The Tavern - Harivansh Rai Bachchan  'Madhushala ' (The Tavern) is the most famous work of Harivansh Rai Bachchan. It is among the longest poems I have read. Through tavern, wine, drinker as analogy ' Bachchan ' has bring out the complexity of life and highlighted hollowness of society, religion, philosophy and traditions. Mother India Smiled.

Mother India Smiled. Patriotism is a word which hit our ears when national festivals like Independence Day or Republic Day are near or when there is some national disaster like terrorist attack or floods affects the country. India is a diverse and developing nation which requires this patriotism throughout the year for economic, cultural and social development of the country. But Sadly that doesn't happen and we forget our nationalism in front of region, religion, caste or color. Although there is negativity all over but some recent incidence shows that all his not lost. At such moments Mother India don't lament on her condition. Giving away your life is not the only symbol of your patriotism, completing your duties as a citizen honestly is also patriotism and a greater one because you need to practice it daily. I am putting here some recent incidences here in the form of a poem which displays such patriotism and brings smile on face of mother India. Happy Independence ...

हंगामा है क्यूँ बरपा?( Why Is This Chaos?)- Akbar Allahabadi This Ghazal was written by Akbar Allahabadi during the time of Hindi-Muslim conflict. Since he was advocating Hindu-Muslim unity claiming that conflicts were part of Britishers Divide and Rule policy, some Muslim fanatics taunted that he had been given alcohol by the Hindus (Muslims are forbidden to drink alcohol). This Ghazal was his response to those insinuations. Thus this ghazal has a broader sense than about the pleasure of imbibing alcohol. हंगामा है क्यूँ बरपा, थोड़ी सी जो पी ली है डाका तो नहीं डाला, चोरी तो नहीं की है Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Thodi Si Jo Pii Lii Hai Daakaa Toh Nahin Daalaa Chori Toh Nahi Kii Hai Why is this chaos growing for my slight drinking, I haven't committed any robbery, nor indulged in stealing. ना-तजुर्बाकारी से, वाइज़  की ये बातें हैं इस रंग को क्या जाने, पूछो तो कभी पी है Naa Tajurbakaari Se Vaais Kii Ye Baatein Hai Is Rang Ko Kyaa Jaane Puchho Toh Kabhi Pii H...
