Tere Gham Ko Jaan Ki Talaash Thi - Faiz Ahmad Faiz

(Tere Gham Ko Jaan Ki Talaash Thi) - The One Who Shares Your Pain - Faiz Ahmad Faiz

Tere Gham Ko Jaan Ki Talaash Thi By Faiz Ahmad Faiz is a Ghazal of lamenting on lost love or the love which is not in one's life. Sharing a post on this blog with this translation almost after 3 years. I hope you will like it.

Teri Gham Ko Jaan Ki Talaash Thi Tere Jaan Nisaar Chale Gaye,

Teri Raah Mein Karte The Sar Talab Sar-e-Rahguzaar Chale Gaye.

The one who shares your pain has gone,

The one who laid down on your way has gone.

Teri Kaj-Adai Se Haar Ke Shab-e-Intizar Chali Gayi,

Mere Zabt-e-Haal Se Rooth Kar Mere Gham Gusaar Chale Gaye.

Seeing your in-sensitiveness the night of wait has gone,

Fed up from my tolerance my pain-sharer has gone.

Na Sawaal-e-Vasl Na Arz-e-Gham Na Hikayatein Na Shikayatein,

Tere Ahad Mein Dil-e-Zaar Ke Sabhi Ikhtiyaar Chale Gaye.

No question of union, no expression of grief, no stories, no complaints,

In your time, all the powers of the broken heart has gone.

Ye Hamin The Jin Ke Libas Par Sar-e-Reh Siyahi Likhi Gayi,

Yahi Daag The Jo Saja Ke Hum Sar-e-Bazm-e-Yaar Chale Gaye.

It was I whose clothes were written with ink on the path,

With these stains adorned like couplets in the gathering of beloved I have gone.

Na Raha Junoon-e-Rukh-e-Wafa Ye Rasan Ye Daar Karoge Kya,

Jinhe Jurm-e-Ishq Pe Naaz Tha Wo Gunahgaar Chale Gaye.

The passion of loyalty is no more, what will you do with the rope & hallway,
Those who were proud of the crime of love has gone.

Here is the rendition of this Ghazal by Abida Parveen.
